Powder bowl and part way down Lucky Shot were damn good. Multiple laps well worth the effort. The "groomers" were truly horrifying. Doesn't need to be said here, but if your not gonna hike, don't go.

PB was a nice bonus today and actually based on conditions the day was good....not as nice as opening last year - lot less snow and no REX loading. Looked to me like I wished I was up on Friday, but the crowd was not to bad and there where lots of fun spots to hit with the boot top new that covered the slopes. Once you knew where to "not" ski most runs had good fun-o-meter quality. CMAC by pass to CMAC and Rolling Noll where fun. Had some rough edges but no real core shots on the skies......I could and might go again tomorrow...especially since you dont know what it will be like by the end of the week. ddk

Skied Crystal today with my son and one of his friends. Glad I had rock skis. We had a good time. The patrol opened High Campbell to the crowds briefly before noon, apparently so the lift skiers could do some packing and the ski shop could get more base-repair business. It looked like fun, but we didn't partake. The kids enjoyed hiking part-way up Campbell Basin above the lodge for powder turns in the afternoon.

My theory is that Crystal will not open the upper mountain until the cable-stringing operation for the new gondola is complete. They can't have lift skiers on the hill when they're dragging cables around. That's just my theory. Anybody have a better one?

That's what I heard.
Hopefully they will get it open for Thursday as man.. today was grim.
I have nothing against snowboarders but today it was really hard to co-exist with them. Narrow paths between the rocks and snowboarders sitting everywhere blocking runs.... tough.

Better in some ways than I expected this morning, no new (duh), but nice sunny morning, good grooming on Downhill, very light early crowd (late arriving as usual), easy to dodge all the rocks early - Rolling Noll, Magoo, CMAC (bumped into Mr Ferk and a work party filling in the creek bed on the by pass), no grooming on Queens, but that was okay. No big extra lucky bonus's today, felt colder at times with the wind and I quit about the same time today as yesterday since the rocks were starting to get very painful in spots and it appeared that there would be a pretty good late crowd.

Crystal was working on getting ready to string the Gondy cable, could see the pull cable nice and tight across the top of IceFerkBerg - might be the real reason they have not opened the top yet.

Only other bit of non ski info that I normally post other places - Pay lot pretty empty again today (duhhhh), B lot 2/3 full, C and D full. So it was a pretty good crowd all in all.
