Crystal Zoo 3/30/10

Everyone went home when the bluebird changed back to snowfall it seems, which was nice since there was some pow replenishment going one. Mountain was unbelievably empty shortly after lunch.

Nice to meet Kyle & Link, and thanks again to brit and friend for the help in the morning.

Spring Break.... Taking my grandson up tomorrow - Thursday.

I've been thinking about the last two days at crustal. The problem now is that there are SOOO many people like us now with fat skis and powder addictions and the internet is so good for conditions forecasting that when we do get a rare mid -week powder day... everybody knows it and shows up.
Yesterday , wednesday, the northback got tracked out in literally two chair cycles. There were no recreational gapers at the lift..... just a line of people with mostly fat skis, good gear, good skills and as much knowledge about where to go as everybody else.
I'm no longer prepared to wait in line for sloppy seconds or ski chopped up searching for powder pockets. After my three untracked laps it was into touring mode and we were once again the ONLY people out there and had complete solitude and skied untracked snow for the rest of the day.
Unless it's a storm providing refills, I honestly think the days of good powder skiing at Crystal for MOST of the day is now impossible within the resort and Northback and fast approaching as far as Southback is concerned.
TOO many good skier all clued in and wanting the same thing.

Yep , point taken .I meant the only people in the area we were concentrating on, there were other people in the crystal BC. Thanks for the correction . It was good wasn't it.
