Crystal March 12th.

Snow Bell and I went to Crystal today. I have season pass, Snow Bell got a lift ticket.
We get to Chinook to upload. Board says Northway and High campbell closed all day due to ice! ???

Long story but short version.
Snowbell goes to customer service and asks for a voucher for another day as Northway and High Campbell closed. Lady in customer service not helpful and says if he was an experienced skier he would have asked about conditions before he bought ticket. :
Snowbell says other ski areas will give voucher for bought ticket if person leaves within first half hour. She says she is aware of that but Crystal doesn't.
We speak to patroller who is sympathetic but can't help.

We make best of it by hiking into Silver basin, up to col lookers left of 3way Peak and hiking entire ridge to Bear Gap, dropping shots on the way.  Pretty good.

I wish I were surprised at this. Hope you guys had a good time in spite of X-tal ops.

Glad you found a partner but sucks that you did not have good conditions. What happened to the Baker plan? The telemetry looked oh-so-sweet!

Let's ski together at Crystal Sunday. I wanna lift ski and get lots of turns in before I go to Hawaii on Monday. Need to milk the last bit of winter out of mother nature's teat.

That's a sad tale, but not a big surprise. Wondering when someone will accuse snow bell of being a whiner! Way to make the best of it though.

Crystal Mgmt really cracks me up sometimes.  "Closed due to ice" really reads, closed due to we sent the lifties home for the day to save a $.  That whole liability excuse really blows.  You would think they could come up with something more creative than that.  I mean, don't they think we know we've waived our rights to sue them when we purchase that lift pass?

Scotsman, I'm glad you had a good day out despite the BS.

I'm super disappointed in Crystal.  Management worse than withheld information from the customer but posted grooming reports stating that Chair 6 and Northway were under evaluation.  The patroller that Scotty and I spoke with told us that they had made the call not to open two and a half hours prior (an hour before the chairs started loading).  Still no disclosure of the limited operations at the ticket window.  One hundred yards after a full price ticket, the customer is informed via dry erase board of the closures.
I simply requested a voucher as I would not have gotten a ticket had I been made aware.  I was not only refused but insulted and belittled. 
Bullshit.
This is why there are threads about why Crystal sucks and no mention of other resorts. Sure they have terrain and snow but they can not take credit for that, only for how well they service it. Fortunately, I do not need to pay to ski the great terrain surrounding them.
I, for one, will not spend $ at Crystal until they clean up their act.
