I headed up this today for some AM skiing and ended up leaving without doing any. Arrived at 9am. No chairs were running. Wind was howling at 60 mph at the notch at the top of Chair 1 / bottom of Chair 2. Waited around until a little after 10, with no news on when/if any of the lifts would open.
Curious if anyone stuck it out....

I heard from a little bird that the quad opened just before 11 am.
Yesterday was a thing of beauty.

Sometimes patience pays off, with today being a great example. Arrived at 8:20ish as the first person in line. Waited patiently until they finally got Armstrong spinning around 10:45, patrol explained the wind was blowing the chairs back and they had to wait for it to settle down. The crazy graupel that was falling made for some interesting, but fun conditions. Very smooth and fast, almost like everything had been groomed. Chair 2 opened just after noon, and for once, I can say that other than about 20 people or so in line when it opened, it stayed almost ski on chairs until i had to leave at 1:30. Nash, Snake Dance and Shot 6 were particularly tasty, it was snowing (graupeling) so hard that lines were getting filled in after almost every lap. There were still tons of untracked lines when I left. Definitely some of the wierdest snow I've ever skied, 4 inches of BB like graupel makes things pretty interesting. Going to make for one scary layer when it gets buried tonight. Thank you to everyone who left and let us stubborn folk enjoy an almost empty mountain, truly appreciated. Sorry, no pics, couldn't really see anything anyways and this snow wouldn't have made for good photos.

Today at Alpental it was dumping...DUMPING! We got there at about 10 and Armstrong was not yet open as they were doing control work. It opened around 10:30. Fresh lines were plentiful as it was snowing so hard. The mountain cleared out when they announced Chair 2 would not open at all due to avy danger. A few more runs and we learned that I-90 was closing and we had to be off the pass in an hour or plan on sleeping there. There were 8 inches of new snow on the car when we walked back to the lot. 8 inches in 3 hours.
