DAMN things look bare over there...not much snowfall over there this winter huh?
The out of control toboggan run down the trail on skis is what makes the whole trip to Colchuck lake worthwhile ;)Glad you guys had a good trip, I was wondering how the snow was going to hold up...
Here's a good look at the route http://www.pbase.com/nolock/image/57591368this has the line drawn in, ski is yellow, rap is bluehttp://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/503/3988TC.jpgphoto by John Scu...
The total vert is something near 2,500 or so. Start is a bit below the summit, and about 300' worth of rapping so probably just over 2,000vf of skiing. The couloirs are all fairly similar...
YEEEHAWWWW!!!! ;D
A three hour tour....A three hour tour.....we all know how that one ended.....hahahahha
NWAC avalanche forecasts are a good resource definitely. However as anyone knows who travels regularly in the mountains, avalanche conditions are very localized phenomena, and from being up on Mt Sno...
I think I'm just irritable cause I carried my skis for 30 some odd miles and didn't make a single turn.....hahahahaha. BUTWe need to keep a perspective on things here. Regardless of your skiing...
Big cajones, give me a fucking break dude....It's Snoqualmie Mountain. It's right next to the road. Its 6000' tall. Sure it can kill you but so can just about anything if you're a bi...
Although what I'm into now is hiking into remote locations, then sleeping all day and then hiking back out. ;)
The point wasn't just to hike our asses in there to drink some whiskey, although that's not such a bad ambition. Screw carrying the skis and climbing gear all the way in there, think of how much...
Skiing a big peak solo? Foolish? For sure. When did Snoqualmie Mtn. become a "big peak" ???haahahahahhahahahahahaha
Snow Lake was kinda partially frozen over, there was a big area of unfrozenness in the middle of the lake. Have fun.
Sky is my personal trail breaking machine hahahahaha ;)
You protect climbs with a rope. Nothing is taken away from an ascent because you didn't solo it. Roped climbing is the norm. So it doesn't seem too much different to do the same for...
Hey Dave....I heard you were practicing for the new sport of extreme summersaulting ;)Awesome trip guys.
Jason, hope you guys get back up there. Definitely check out the NE Couloir if you go. I think it is a better line than the NF. I've got friends coming from out of town so I'm pretty much...
You guys passed up on the NF and/or the NE couloir? ;D ??? ;D
There's definetely more lines to ski on Goode
we got on the glacier straight on. There was a depression in the glacier directly above our bivy. Once on the glacier we turned left and went below the NE Butt, and then up and onto the fa...
Yeah that's the line....2,000+ ft of Goode's Goodness...
Cyril...Read the Jack Mtn trip report.....23 hours straight. Only difference is that that one was my idea...ha ha ha.That one whooped Sky's ass. He passed out as soon as we reached the car...
Sky skinnning the icefall, shortly before switching to crampons.
Here's a shot of the S face.
You guys shoulda stuck it out, cause it cleared out beautifully for us + you guys misses some of the best turns which were found above the saddle.I think that skiing on the E. of the rocks (wher...
Phil....I'm not sure where you guys went to see anything like a "grim sight"?Where we were on the glacier, sure there were crevasses, but easily negotiated, and we were able to make a very d...
When we skied back down the C/D the visibility was good all the way down to below the glacier so that was not an issue. There was a few inches of snow on the moraines around the camp. Once on the...
Here's the link to the pics....sorry they're not in any kind of order.
Ok, there's some more photos up in the Ski Route Photos section...
