Unbelievably beautiful day, and excellent company to help me celebrate a milestone. Lara P., Chuck, and his son Jake (a first-time TAYer) made the drive to Artists Point from Edmonds to head out toward Coleman Pinnacle area. Sun, mild temps, HUNDREDS of pedestrians, and some servicable patches were all seen along the way. At the corner to turn into the basin below the Pinnacle (where all the goats usually are...) we decided that the small patch below us would be sufficient for our celebratory turns. Nice dust-on-crust (really chattery, though), first (only?) tracks, and near-sunburn conditions helped out with the Joy-O-Meter. We were surprised to see very few brethren and sisteren out there. A very nice way to ring out the end of Year 13, and look forward to La Nina blowing in Year 14 next month!!!!
sure was a gorgeous day! We ended up not leaving vancouver until about 9pm on saturday night and camped up at Twin Lakes.. woke up to the north face covered in snow! Definitely not enough to ski, but sure did get us excited :)
Coleman region was beautiful.. loads of people, but the snow was covered with up to 5cm of snow in areas. We skied one of the larger patches near the end of the hike before hitting the north side, which was fully blanketed with new snow. Dust on crust, but I'd say it is officially the first lines of the new season for me! We had a decent hike back out to the trail, but we were treated to a gorgeous evening
Bring on the snow! Though it will feel really weird not skiing in board shorts anymore..
