Snow conditions consisted of several inches of fresh snow (in most areas) ontop a substantial crust (telemetry shows it warmed and rained yesterday evening, then cooled), which we were not breaking thru. The crust seemed to stablize all the new snow. We started the day with beacon practice. We then headed over to Shooting Star.
Lots of folks were out. Those who skied yesterday reported even more, with Andy saying, "I didn't know this many people in the Portland area had backcountry gear." Most of the folks didn't seem to venture far from the base area and the Bowls. We had the Shooting Star area mostly to our selves and did two runs here. Weather was pretty good, consisting of sunbreaks and occasional snow squalls.
