I met Snowbell in Bremerton and we headed up above Lake Cushman. Had to park about 1-1/2 miles below the lower TH---the road won't melt out for a few weeks. The long approach and sweaty bootpack in the winter route turned an early start into an more average summit. Joe pointed me at the (NW?) couloir just below the summit, and we dropped most of the way down to Lake Ellinor. We set off quite a few shallow sloughs. Lots of bird activity along the cirque ridges!
After reclimbing the gully we skied the short chute just S of the summit, and traversed across the ascent route to A Peak. After a quick scramble we skied the couloir and creek skier's L of the climber's route. (Exit back to climber's chute before you get too low on this line). Joe's last stash was a good set of glades, across the summer trail, with pine twigs and chickenheads that led us straight back to the middle TH.
LOTS of good snow, soft but very skiable. We baked all day, saw 8 people, and were the only ones a-glisse.

Wonderful weather and fine snow made for a great day. We earned over 5K of turns with another 5-600vf of road skinning. We drove to 2K before being stopped by snow, much better than two weeks ago by a mile or two. Things are very well filled in making for some sporty lines that are not usually skiable. There is work to be done up there before the melt begins in earnest.

Good day you guys! I enjoyed the pictures. If I had gotten free to tag along - I would have been way down below Telemack in those pictures! I like the pics, especially "Ski tips on the edge!"
