Skierlyles and I headed out to the Teanaway once again with a goal of checking out the Ingalls Lake environs. Ran into md2020, who was camping up by Fortune Peak.  He showed us an alternative to the summer hiking trail by continuing up towards Fortune Peak Pass before turning off to the right (thanks mad dog, let us know how your trip was). The snow was a total glopfest of unconsolidated mush. No need for a water bottle because you could just grab a handful of snow and squeeze the water out into your mouth. A few signs of wet slides here and there, but nothing alarming and a nice breeze kept it from getting unbearably hot. While the turns were not ideal, everything else was perfect.

Looks beautiful! Skiing glop is still preferable to hiking in my opinion. It's all just a means of getting outside.

Nice job with the pics Jay, that first one is a real gem. Despite the snow conditions being marginal and there being a bit of hiking involved the day was a splendid one. Great views abounded and we were rewarded with a new area to add to the growing list of Teanaway favorites.

As soon as my camera stops acting up I will post some pics too.

Sweet pics! :)

Nice boys. Exactly how long was the hike?

Good to see you two. We kind of screwed up putting our skins on so soon, as we always seem to do. We lost a bit of time screwing around, but soon reached camp at our usual site around 6000' at the bottom of the southeast bowl of Fortune. No bare ground for the tent this year. We climbed fortune's south ridge. Skied a bit into the east bowl, then skied the south face down to camp. Lots of big wet slides were sent anywhere we touched. Camp was good, but rain came early Sunday and it was all we could do to throw everything in the packs and get the hell out of there.

We had about 2 miles and 1,000 ft before hitting solid snow.

Md2020-
Yeah, was nice to see you two too. Sorry you guys did not have the usual dry Teanaway weather Sunday.

Great pictures Jay.  I like the third one with the tree especially.
That 4:50 ferry proved to be too early for me.  I would have liked to join you and Itchy but I had to settle for some slightly perfect conditions closer to home.   ;)

the hike is easy, it's the potholed road until a ways past Bean Crk that is the killer. It gets worse every year.

great score guys!!

And yeah, that road is pretty brutal. it gets my truck turned sideways at times.
