Thursday evening Chmnyboy, Jeff, our friend Jack and I took advantage of the beautiful weather to ski a north facing line on Mt. Angeles.
We left the Switchback trailhead shortly after 4:00 PM. Jack set a determined pace up the trail to Victor Pass. From here we followed the standard climbing route to the ridge line leading to the summit of Mt Angeles. We scrambled along the ridge to the top of our planned descent route, not far from the true summit. The early evening sun was still shining on much of the line. We were hopeful this was a sign of good snow conditions. We were not disappointed.
We skied creamy corn through alternating steep and moderate terrain for 1,200 vf of very enjoyable and rewarding turns. Tyler was thoughtful enough to pack a suitable beverage to toast our evenings efforts. :D
After a short break we climbed back to the col which connects with the standard hiking trail from Heather Park to Victor Pass. At Victor Pass we ran into several local back country skiers enjoying evening laps in the North Bowl. After some lively banter, we headed back down the Switchback trail, tired, but refreshed from a beautiful evening in the mountains.
Here are a few pictures from our trip and a link to several more:
