Jan 5-9, 2011, Asulkan Hut, Rogers Pass, BC

We made the trek up to Rogers Pass last week, with hopes that the forecast storm would hold off until we made it to the Asulkan hut, and then the clouds would open up and relentlessly dump. We were in luck. The snow began lightly on the drive to the BC interior, and didn't stop until our last morning at the hut. After our first night, we had the whole Asulkan drainage to ourselves, no other parties were in the hut, and nobody made the trek up, most likely due to the forecast high avy danger. While high winds and heavy snowfall resulted in unstable slabs and low vis in the alpine, we were able to take advantage of the wind-protected tree triangle below the hut.
