Guye Peak/Cave Ridgidhorn

Dave, Dave, Ben, Nick, Ryan, Eric and myself took a nice little jaunt up Guye Peak and Cave Ridge to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday. We were greeted with mix rain/snow at the Pass, but as we climbed, so did the snow levels. Topped out Guye Peak to a slowing down in the rain, and skiied the mush back down to the saddle between Guye and Cave. Fun, but challenging; your basic mash potatoes/oatmeal mixture. Then up and over Cave Ridge to the slot leading down into Commonwealth Basin proper. We debated the merits of side-stepping down with axes, but opted for a bollard to get the group down. Much sporting fun! Again some nice turns were had in the slop, and the descending traverse back out to the Sahale playfield was actually quite nice! Skinning was difficult at times; used the ski cramps more than once. However, as soaked as we were, there were smiles all around! Nice to discover a worthy tour so close in to the West parking lots. Look to do it aqgain when the Big Guye Coulior is more properly filled in.
