We had a very enjoyable day of 4300vft in the foothills of Mt Hood on Saturday. The "Oregon powder" was generally well preserved and enjoyable to ski. We skied on NE and SE aspects between 5700' and 3700'. The NE aspects held the best snow. A bit grabby but still fun. The SE aspects the snow was more sun affected and not as optimal. The recent snow seemed well-bonded to the crust and we found no indications of instability. It was the best "powder" day I've had in the backcountry on Mt Hood this season (which doesn't say that much, since I've been spending a lot of time at the resorts).
