On the way home from lift-skiing at MHM I stopped at Timberline and skinned up to the top of the Palmer. The majority of the day the upper slopes had been shrouded in clouds but about 20 minutes prior to me getting to Timberline the clouds cleared. I started at 5pm, right as the sun was starting to set. The colors were exquisite in the horizon and reflecting off the upper slopes. The snow surface consisted of small amount of fluffy wind-blown powder and packed-powder where it was groomed. They had groomed the Palmer recently (probably so the snow doesn't blow away), but they had not opened the Palmer lift today. I made it back down to the car right as it got dark enough for a headlamp.

By mistake I missed some excellent sunset photo opportunities because I left my camera in my car. I guess I'll have to do this again next weekend :-)
