Just to start off on the right foot I'm not criticizing the guys who skied the N. Face after I bailed off it on tuesday. I just wanted to do a little break down of my own decision making process for the benefit of all. I found it especially important to post it on the main FIS site because I think that its important to remind the "general audience" from time to time that knowing when to turn around in the mountains is just as important as knowing when to commit. I also wanted to show that bailing doesn't have to mean failure, I still got to ski an awesome line and in much better snow.

I had the chance to engage in my first true Bail in a long time on tuesday. I left the Baker parking lot at 7 am with the goal of skiing the North Face of Mt. Shuksan. I was going solo, I was happy with the stability and really wanted to take advantage of a good weather window.

Enjoy!

:). Way to follow your gut.

Totally. Its never a bad decision to bail. Been a few times when I should have. Live to ski another day....its more fun that way.

Sweet pics as always, I'm envious. Solo trips have their risks but are inevitably more fulfilling.
