Well, I can't top Sam's report from yesterday, but Juan's beta from Sunday fueled a trip to Stevens area. Doug, Dave M(etallo) and Dave M(ay), Ross, and I headed out from the maintenance lot at 8:30. Skinned up to the new Verizon cabin at the east end of the ridge, then continued straight up to the peak at that end. 500' of fluff greeted us, on a great and rarely-used tree run. Skinned up to the traverse going west, and summitted Tye Peak at 12:30 (A slow day, a leisurely tour). Decided that the north face held the best turns, and so headed into 1000' of fluffy face shots. Since Ross has a cabin at Yodelin Estates, we decided to take the Valhalla Lake drainage route back. As beautiful as it was, it put the torturing into the touring for the day. After another 2 hours, we emerged, smiling but beat from the low-angle descent and creek crossings. Next time, the dog route back, but the turns were sweet!

Juan: Were those your group's turns coming into the north bowl of the ridge? They were steeply sweet!!!
Greg, that's good to know about the descent out to Yodelin Place.  I've been tempted to head out that way myself, but it looked a little as you described it.

So I'm not sure which one is Tye Peak, but I think I've been on it.  Our tracks from Sunday were off the NE face of (Tye Peak?) down some steep glades and to the skin track below the boulder garden.

I want to ski the W side of that peak/saddle and drop down towards Tye Lake, that looks pretty good too, but not sure about the return route.

Thanks for including me in the tour -- I thought the north face powder was particularly sweet.  The exit out Nason Creek to Yodelin is pretty reasonable in most snow conditions, but sorry if it was false beta this time.
