Taking Bud's recommendation on Red, Paul and I decided on a longer tour into Snow Lake area.  Crossed over the East Ridge on Chair onto the north side, skied down to the lake.  It's a great 1500' run, but the snow remained crusty with avy debris mixed in.  From the lake, we headed up Roosevelt on its steep and narrow East ridge.  The view from top was spectacular on the rugged Alpine Lake peaks.  We saw two skiers doing a clock-wise Chair Pk circumnavigation.  We skied down the main avy slopes as Martin describes in his book.  The snow was sloughy mash with a ton of soft avy debris.  After 1800' run, simply skied out across the "snow" lake (probably not really frozen, just a lot of snow?).  Although the snow wasn't great for skiing today, the tour was fantastic, very alpine with nice ski slopes.  8 hrs back to Alpental, 4.8k'.
