I was hoping for something around 10 inches of pow that the forecast predicted for the upper mountain, but instead we found windblown snow, ice, and corn.
The best part was enjoying the sunshine above the clouds on the upper slopes, and listening to the upper mountain drop rocks and ice off of the Icefall.
~2500 vf of snow that required a couple of rock or volcanic soil crossings. I kept my skis on.
The snow turned to corn when the snowfield becomes steeper and turned slushy in the pebble creek area. The upper slopes of muir had about a half an inch of wind compacted snow varied with lots of hard ice.
These conditions were found in the afternoon.
Cheers!

Nice pic, good snow info.
I assume your trip was on the 18th, not today? ???
Otherwise a 1:30 posting for a PM trip equals a REALLY fast ascent to Muir!
