Jonesing for some skiing but not much in the mood to brave weather patterns up high, DC, Paul, and I headed out from Paradise for a hike with skis yesterday.
The snow was actually quite nice, especially given the time of year, with smoothish corn directly above Pebble Creek. With scheduled partying to be had that evening and almost no visibility, we opted to lap that short (maybe 500 vf?) section.
As for conditions up higher, the previous day's investigation (9/30) by myself and Liz revealed that larger suncups had been (predictibly) filled with patches of newer snow the first 1000' vf or so below the Muir shelter.
Most of the descent on both days was surprisingly enjoyable.
