Who posts the most TRs on TAY??

Yeah, interesting. Just the other day I was trying to remember when this all began; now I know for me--my first trip report here was April 2001 (unless there were trip reports before that that are not in the newer database).
Since the TAY Trip Reports didn't actually become a user-postable forum until October 2002 (TRs were added manually by Charles prior to that), posts before that month are not fully and properly counted by the script.
If you look through the old TR months prior to that, you can see that the OP's name is usually listed in plain text, not as a link to a user profile, and often the name listed does not exactly match any current TAY username. Even if the name does happen to match, the user number (which would be in the link to the user profile) is missing if the name is unlinked. Thus the PHP script has no way of properly assigning such posts to their proper author, since all of that is done based on user number. So there is some unavoidable undercounting of the older manual posts prior to October 2002, and those are not fully included in the totals for most early-joining TAY members.
For example, in Trip Reports - April 2001 , there is one TR by "acarey" , properly linked to user number 3 (!!), and two other TRs by "Andy Carey", not linked to any user number. So the PHP script is only counting one of those under acarey's totals, since it has no way of knowing for sure that acarey and Andy Carey are the same user.
This could be fixed by editing the TAY database (Marcus?) to assign those older posts properly to specific user numbers, in cases like yours where there is no ambiguity or uncertainty. In a few cases, it might not be possible to make that determination for sure though, if the listed name is not sufficiently similar to an actual TAY username, or without "inside knowledge" of username - realname correlation in such cases.
Such editing was already partially done at some point, which is why some of the pre-Oct2002 posts do have a linked user number. But it's probably not worth the effort to fix it more completely, just for the sake of historical counting.

...
they are, of course, the same person

Back then ther was also a "Ron Jarvis" posting, which many confused as me.
There also appears to have been a "ron jarvis". A miscreant, no doubt.
