Look closely at the map and you can see for yourself that the original red line marking the run has been covered with paint (you can still see the red line). Notice also how the LOCATION of the name "Kante" itself still sits in the original position revealing that "Kante" at Alpental has been shrunk down and altered, only at the top of the run.
You can also see that the NEW red line connecting Kante was not done by Dee Molenaar as the line is not the same as the others. Its fatter and shaky. The whole alteration on the map looks like it must have been done by an amateur and NOT the original artist.
I have a feeling the Alpental "honeymoon accident" (and death) MAY have had something to do with CLOSING the original run, "Kante" but I am NOT SURE what happened or WHY Kante was altered.
This "closed" area of Kante is also referred to as, Kite Bowl as this is where the folks back in the 70's used to "take-off" with their early rigid hang-gliders. That was the days of the hotdog skier, bright yellow ski gear with wide contrasting stripes and bump experts. Those early ski seasons were the time for our NW ski pioneer's to conduct crazy gear experimentation because there were fewer restrictions, and a guy named Jeff Jobe.

Here is the map (section) that shows Kante as it was originally INCLUDED within the ski area boundary.

Billy you bozo!
You should tell unsuspecting folks that they should NOT go into KITEBOWL! Just don't do it! There is NO ESCAPE. It is a certain death zone so don't go there. And certainly don't go there on my say, that would be your first mistake, if you made any more mistakes down in KITEBOWL, you could fall off of shot 1,2, or 3, neither of any one of these will be ANY good for any of you.
I am just attempting to present a certain historical detail of Alpental, based on the map.
Drying out my ski gear,

Notice that the SKI AREA BOUNDARY is much larger then the ski area normal operating size. Look at the LEFT border of the main map, it includes lower shot 8! So where is the ACTUAL SKI AREA BOUNDARY and why is it so ambiguous changing from map to map?
So did "Alpental At The Summit" have this map created by the groomers between shifts, or what?
Also, it may be time to look at the TWO PENTAGRAMS that the "The Summit" uses for its logo. You can see them on this "map".
As if THAT wasn't enough... ...notice that the ALPENTAL name has the word PENTA "hidden" in it!
