Greetings, Backcountry skiing. Brothers and Sisters.Big Opportunity Awaits It is my intention that this message will result in an extremely beneficial situation for you or someone you know. If it is not you, please hand this off to someone that you think might benefit from it.In early 2023, Jeanette, my most reliable ski partner for 30 years, convinced me that we should hand off the 25 years of organizing our 3-day Mt Hood Silcox Hut Climb and Ski trip to other participants of the trip. Her suggestion turned out to be somewhat clairvoyant, since the time we would have been on the 2024 trip I was in the hospital with life-threatening heart challenges.By the beginning of 2025 it was obvious to me that, at 82 and with a bad ticker, my mountain climbing was behind me. With thousands of dollars of climbing, glacier travel and backcountry ski gear, it seemed a shame to let it all go unused. So, I packed it all up and handed the truck load of gear to the one person that I thought might most likely run into deserving recipients. Bonnie was still active in the community, along with her son Kit, and as a long-time AIRES instructor she might find all the gear, good homes.Giving away 30 years of accumulated climbing and skiing gear was painful. In the end, I just couldn't give up my “Go To” ski gear. I had just spent way too much time and effort making them the best they could be. I rationalized it by thinking maybe I'll still do some downhill, later. So, I kept what I call my “go to” Winter & Summer Mountain skis. Now, as we approach what is forecast to be another big snow year I am starting to feel a bit guilty. My ticker is not getting any better. And now at 83, I look at my Go To gear hanging here on my wall going to waste. And think “Some athlete in this area who has been wanting to get into the backcountry is losing out on the use of some great gear at a killer price, just because I have been stubborn to face reality”.I've decided that giving the gear away will not likely put it in the hands of someone that can best use it. But I do want it to be a killer deal. If I must break it up, I’ll find some equivalent stuff on EBay and underprice it. Per chance you might help me come up with a fair price. My first choice is to sell it all to someone that will benefit from it. An athletic hiker, climber, runner, etc., that is a resort skier that’s enthused to get into backcountry skiing would be ideal. I hate to see the 30 years of experience go to waste. Someone like above that would also be enthused To have access to 30 years of research and discovering ski stashes along with trip maps, descriptions. and other beta---that person would be the answer to my letter to Santa. If you are that person, we need to put our heads together and come up with a plan that works for us and get you onto the cool ski lines that few know about as soon as the snow covers them.Ron Jarvisronjarvis1031@gmail.com206 550 0250 BC Ski GearDynafit HUASCARAN Skis (my deep freshies skis)Length 177Sidecut 134-112-123Bindings: Dynafit Torque FT TLT VERTICALs with matching ski brakesClimbing gear: Two pair of fitted 177 Huascaran Speedskins w/Dynafit fitted Ski Cramponshttps://www.sierradescents.com/reviews/dynafit/huascaran.htmlDynafit CHO OYU Skis (my summer skis)Length 174Sidecut 125-88-111Bindings: Dynafit FT TLT VERTICALs with matching ski brakesClimbing gear: Fitted 174 CHO OYU Speedskins w/Dynafit fitted Ski Cramponshttps://skimo.co/dynafit-cho-oyu-skis?srsltid=AfmBOopXV14mJQczJNsqoXrDv9-rHwHqKNyNivugfOubvj5RgiRsSlGbSki Poles – UNIQUE CUSTOM FABRICATED incorporating the most useful features used in ski poles for 30 years. We're all getting there, Ron. Regine and I are hoping to ski some this year (very little in the past 2 years due to health issues). I know how you feel about your gear because I have invested so much in mine
Best wishes. I think about you every time we hike to Lakes Trail. abc
