WTB: Fish scale setup - Karhu Guide XCD or similar was created by BT
Hi, anyone have any Karhu Guide XCD/Madshus Annum cross country/telemark skis (or something similar) with metal edges and fish-scales sitting around and not getting used. Long story short I had some pretty serious medical issues in 2015 (brain cancer) and want to back get out in the snowy mountains on mellow terrain and re-teach myself how to tour and ski again! I have Voile V6 (circa 2014) with Dynafit bindings not getting used that I could trade.
Thanks,
Brian
Thanks,
Brian

BT, The mountains will be glad to have you back !
Sorry I cant help you with skis. Just Info
Are you aware the Madshus Annum has now been replaced by the Madshus Panorama which is obtainable new.
Its supposed to be the exact same ski.
Are you considering putting Dynafits tech bindings on these skis? I put Dynafit tlt speeds on mine and a pair of Comforts on my wife's. ITs a great combo for just what you are planning on. I use a TLT 6 boot with the tongue out and have skins when needed. Also to keep myself spoiled I spent the extra beans on a volcano top From B&D
Amazingly this setup works in powder.
Good luck gettiing back in the groove!

Thanks for the intel Robie and your setup with Dynafit. Do you have the M68 or M78? I have seen the Madshus Panorama line out there, but not finding anything new in stock in my size. Also, any tips for the sizing of the Madshus Panorama, their sizing chart seems specific to X-Country. I'm assuming I would go with the general length of my AT setups.

BT ,
I have the Madshus Annum M78 in 185 cm
Im 6' 1" 205 lbs
Because of the camber I have to work just a little harder to compress that camber for Parallel turns on harder surfaces .
Basically just really load the weight on the one ski. In powder the camber is a non factor.
I also have a pair of Karhu guides in 175cm but the Dynafit bindings are set too close for my Size 12 boots.
Like you I'm curious how a shorter than normal ski would be.
I put this rig together after seeing some of the Nordic ski patrollers at Snoqualomie started using the same gear.
The new generation light weight AT boots really makes it work.
IT's not as fast as Skate skiing but this type rig is able to leap off the nordic trails and access surrounding slopes .
You might call Mountain To Sound Outfitters in West Seattle. I know they were carrying MadshusPanoramas.
I"ll send you a PM with my contact info

I also used dynafit bindings on my Karhu Guides and my Madshus Annums. However, I switched to Voile Vector BC then to Hypervector BCs; each change was a step up in performance. The Vectors ski powder very well and other snows with a slight drag/buzz. They climb just as good as the Karhu/Madshus. Just lighter, higher performance and more spendy--unless you buy a pair like the ones I sold cheaply a while back with dynafit bindings. I use ATK bindings (w brake) on my hypervectors with TLT8 (only because my arthritis kept me from using my TLT6s which toured better than my Scarpa F-1s [both for sale here on TAY].

Are you still looking for Karhu Guides? I have a pair of XCD 78's, 185 length. No bindings. They have been drilled twice for Dynafit Comforts. I will trade them for a six-pack of hazy IPA.

Thank you for the offer. Someone from TAY did reach out to me and hooked me up with Guides. I mounted them with older Dynafits I had and I have got out a couple times on the flats. I was also able to grab Andrew’s TLT8s that are great. Super fun to get back to sliding around on the snow. Thanks to you all.
