I know about the pension there - Pension Liberty. It's a pretty popular base for backcountry skiers hitting Mount Rishiri. From what I've heard from friends who've been there, it's a basic but comfortable spot, and the owners are super helpful with local info. They're used to hosting BC skiers.

The location is really convenient - you're basically right there at the foot of the mountain. The main draw is obviously skiing that perfect cone-shaped peak. Just keep in mind you'll want to time your trip right since Rishiri can get absolutely hammered by winds being so exposed up there in the Sea of Japan.

If you're planning a trip, definitely book ahead. May be a get guide, gowithguide.com/ or Some other place you are comfortable with
