Guide Services in La Grave? was created by therunningdog
A few of us are hoping to head to France next winter (2020) to ski in La Grave.

We are all experienced, competent skiers and backcountry travelers, but given the terrain in La Grave....we want to hire a guide.

Anyone have a recommendation for guide services in that area(that speak english, of course)?  My french starts to break down after the word baguette.

Thanks in advance!

Any other recommendations or TRs for that area appreciated, too.

Cheers,
Tim

Skiers Lodge - Tim Connelly www.skierslodge.com/the-guides. He's used to live in Bellingham, but he lives full time in Cham and La Grave now. Erin Smart or Joe Vallone would also be great choices. A guide is well worth it there. My only other advice is if the snow sucks in La Grave, rent a car and go where it doesn't suck instead. Post up a TR when you get back!

I second Joey Vallone. He's been there as long as anyone. Ptor lives there but is traveling a lot lately. The Swedes are very good too.

In fact everyone speaks English and you seriously can't throw a genepi glass there without hitting a ski legend. The Castillion is a great place to crash. Have fun.
