I drove the road with 2wd, just a little icy. I skied it on 12/9. Beautiful weather. The trail is rocky for the first 10 minutes (250 vertical feet), but able to skin from there to tree line without a problem. The main trail is so well bootpacked that we just carried our skis up to the ridge for a quick ascent, only veering off at 7,700 to tag the true summit. The sun crust would have made for tough work skinning. We skied continuously from the summit to within 10 minutes of the car without having to take skis off, although it definitely required some selective route finding at times. I scraped a few rocks but we also veered well off the main trail to ski the western bowl and ventured across many rocky ridge lines that could have otherwise been avoided. All in all, we encountered a bit of crust up high, semi-corn in the middle, and mush just before tree line (around 2pm), with minimal rock scrapes.
