Pipe dream: Old TAY URL converter tool?

Thanks Pavel for rescuing TAY in its time of need. Truly appreciated.

This is probably not practical, but I'm going to throw out this idea anyway.

Being a local history buff, I've squirreled away hundreds of links to TAY trip reports over the years.

Being a technology realist, I made sure to capture the text content of those reports in my files at the same time. So I have them saved.

But from time to time, I'm sure I will want to go back to the original TAY thread to look at the discussion that was generated by the original trip report. Or maybe the pictures.

It would be awesome to have a tool that converts an old URL like this:

www.turns-all-year.com/skiing_snowboardi...dex.php?topic=9965.0

Into a new URL like this:

turns-all-year.com/trip-reports/may-3-20...-mountain-ne-couloir

Is that possible? Or crazy?

It's probably possible, but I deprioritized this, Lowell, over other stuff. I think I can start looking into this now. Keep you posted.

Thanks, frankfrank. Lowell sent me a couple via email, and I was able to map most (all?) old TR URL's to the new ones.

Clarification: This only works for TR's - I'm not sure I can map old URL's for other forum posts (Weak Layers, Trips Research, etc.). Speaking of which, I haven't migrated all forum posts, and some I may not migrate ever (e.g. Yardsale). I'm trying to get some of the boards migrated, though (e.g. some Lift-Accessed and some Random Tracks ... trying to figure out which ones may be of value).
