Skate Creek Road (USFS #52) is "anticipated to open May 14":

This 22-mile paved connection between Packwood and Ashford saves almost fifty miles driving (and half an hour) compared to White Pass to Paradise via Morton. There is active logging (and probably large potholes) at the Ashford end (USFS #84 & #85).
WSDOT is still 'chuting' to open Cayuse and Chinook passes by Memorial Day. The park usually has Stevens Canyon Road open by then also. Paradise still has almost fourteen feet of base and there should be skiing from the parking lot well into June.
