April 1, 2021 - Pre-publication event for "Written in the Snows"

For over two decades, I've been working on a book about Northwest skiing, with an emphasis on human-powered skiing. Two years ago, The Mountaineers decided to publish it. We're in the final stages of editing and design, and the book will be released this fall. On April 1 (7pm) The Mountaineers will host a conversation about the book between me and Malcolm Bates, author of Cascade Voices. The event is free, but will include an opportunity to support The Mountaineers non-profit publishing program (not just this book). Donors will be recognized by name in Written in the Snows when it is published. More information is available in this Mountaineers blog post. I hope you can tune in!

Congratulations Lowell on writing and finishing your book.   I know many of the labors of love involved in such an endeavor.   It took me seven years to write The Snow Leopard Manuscript which I finished last year.   It has not been published but I have had excerpts published as short stories while I wrote it.   It is a work of creative non fiction which gave me the leeway to change things as far as names etc.go.   You can bet I will buy your book when it is available.   Again congratulations.

Happy to receive this from Mountaineers Books today--an advance copy of my book! Copies will be shipped in volume to the publisher's warehouse in a couple weeks. At that point we'll kick off publicity and marketing efforts. I look forward to participating in book events in the months ahead. It's been a long and rewarding journey.
