New skin recommendations

I'm really curious, as well ... following this topic.

They'll get delivered in a week or two, then I'll put them to use and see what happens

Can't say I recommend them. This happened on my second tour.
 
 

Wow, never seen a skin fail like that!

The Contour Hybrid skins have been growing on me. I used the included cleaning wipe and it made them much stickier! Surprised I had to use it after only a few short days but it's possible that I didn't do a good enough job scraping the wax last time and contaminated the glue. I used them yesterday for a long day with many laps and had no issues but I was very diligent about keeping the ski bases and skin glue clean. Haven't used them in wet snow yet but I'm thinking they will work well if you bring a small towel and dry the bases and skin glue at each transition. Would never take a towel to other skins but it might just work with these! Anyway, worth a shot if you really care about not getting skin glue on your bases. 

Dang, what an interesting mishap with the skins, kamtron. I've been a long time BD skins user, and just recently decided to try Pomoca - went with the Climb 2.0 model, and one tour in I'm pretty impressed with the weight, grip and the easy glue (compared to BD, which is super hard to pull apart sometimes). Time will tell how they perform, obviously, but overall I think the brand has great reputation so hoping they'll do well for me. I'm hoping you can get a warranty claim open for these. Good luck!

I have a new pair of BD Ascensions for a new pair of BD Helio 116 skis (145/116/125). The skis are unwaxed. I put the skins on at home a couple hours before their first use on 2/7/21 at Stevens Pass. They worked great for the first ascent of 1600-ft. I was careful to keep snow off of them when I transitioned to my descent, used the "glue saver" mesh as I folded each separately, and put them inside of my jacket. After that the glue just would not stick, although one did stick a little. Back home, dry and warm, the glue again is so strong it takes Arnold Schwarzenegger to pull them apart. Past experience with BD Ascension skins taught me to adjust the tail clip to make the skins tight.

What am I doing wrong? What should I do to make them stick?
