12/4/2020Greetings! As many of you know Gib (Summit Patrol Director)has done an annual post reminding everyone of the current uphill travel situation
at Alpental. Going forward I will be the
one with this honor. The early snow at Alpental has resulted in a good fall
touring season. I am always stoked to see people enjoying some preseason turns. Recently, some of you may have noticed
activity such as chairs running, groomers and a few more patrollers skiing around
Alpental. Starting Monday morning 12/7/2020 thewinter uphill travel policy will go into effect at Alpental. The policy can be a little difficult to findon the summit website. It is located on the main page at the bottom in the
middle column under “policies” or visit summitatsnoqualmie.com/uphill-travel-policy .Starting Monday, you will see large signs posted at multiplelocations around the base area. These signs signalthat our operational season has begun and uphill travel is restricted at
certain times. Please READ the details
of the policy at the link above. As always when traveling uphill within any of the closed summitski areas please give chair lifts and groomers/machinery a wide berth. Thank you for your continued cooperation and
we look forward to opening some lift accessed turns soon for you.Aaron OppSnow Safety SpecialistAlpental Patrol/BARK Handler

So is the Summit doing work on the hill this week, or is uphill travel open now that the lifts are closed? My memory may be wrong but I seem to recall it usually takes a little while before we get the all clear after closing day...

5/7/2021Greetings,Uphill travel restrictions for Alpental ski area have ended for winter 2020-21 season. There is still a ton of snow on the hill with 205” on top and 89” at the base as of Friday. If travelling up any Summit ski areas please stay away from infrastructure or work in progress. Chair lifts can start or stop without warning and it is possible machinery or personnel could be on the hill at any time of the year. Have a happy spring and look for a post in the fall when the snow starts flying again. Cheers,Aaron Opp
