Highway 20 Closure Point Winter 20-21? was created by JasonGriffith
Does anyone know if WSDOT plans to keep highway open to the Ross Dam TH this year?  For the last couple they have closed it at Colonial Creek once the snow really gets going.

There was talk of some groups pressuring them in 2018 to keep it open further (couldn't find the thread on the new board), but nothing appears to have come of it.  Time to contact elected officials?  In the time of COVID we are going to need all the space we can get to spread out and the Ross Dam gate adds some area.

Thanks for any information!

Hey Jason, I saw the closure at the moment is up high, but that they plan to move it down low when there is more snow. Seems that skiers and sledders should get organized and maybe even fundraise to push for access from the snow up there. This was the email I got:

Road closure points
The closure points start at milepost 134/Ross Dam Trailhead and at milepost
171/Silver Star Gate. When significant snow begins to fall, WSDOT crews
will move the western closure point back to milepost 130/Colonial Creek
Campground and the eastern closure point to milepost 178/Early Winters
Campground. These weather-dependent changes usually happen in January.

Signs along SR 20 are posted in advance of the closure point and updates on the WSDOT website will reflect where the road is closed.
