Are we in the era of last ascents?

Interesting article this week on how the recession of glaciers is making many climbs more hazardous, with some quotes from TAY local Lowell Skoog:

I'd be curious to know who got the last descent on the Twisting Couloir on Joffre. It's no longer skiable and my understanding is that similar things have been happening in the Alps as temps rise and frozen vertical gravel doesn't stay vertical.
