Sad news this morning for many of us in the TAY and Northwest ski communities. Adam Roberts, who posted on TAY as "skibum.roberts", died yesterday in an avalanche near White Pass. He was often featured in spectacular ski photos taken at Mount Baker and other locations in the Cascades. I've known Adam casually for a number of years, and he was close friends with several of my friends and ski partners. Condolences to them and to his family.

Please everyone be extra cautious out there during the current cycle of heavy snowfall atop a somewhat atypically unstable Cascade snowpack.

Heartbreaking. What a great guy. I only met him once but his postive vibe was a real treat to be around in the mountains.

:(.

Thanks for posting, Amar.

A next-day edit:

I can only recall meeting Adam once, but what a place to meet a person: atop Mt. Adams' Pinnacle Peak on a hot June afternoon. Susan and I were about to ply a line on the north side, as was he, once his friends, visible only as faraway dots traversing the Adams Glacier, caught up with him. We chatted a bit about snow tires I'd almost bought from him, then we were off.

Adam's photos, videos, and so many photos taken by others, especially Jason, perpetually opened our eyes to the possible. Jason's book-cover photo of Adam in flight is the stuff of which childhood dreams are made.

The tiny-house video is making the rounds. Here is another, made by Adam, which opened my ears to Three Tall Pines:

Thank you, Adam.

Such sad news, I have enjoyed his TAY post over the years. All please choose your terrain with care, we don't need another accident in the family.
