Whither Sunshine Point   that was a big loss.

I think the old Sunshine Point campground water intake is still on the hillside above the road.  There was talk of rebuilding a picnic area there after the '06 flood, but I've heard nothing lately, despite many tens of millions spent on park roads since.  A park management wishing to truly "enhance the visitor experience" (fave PR buzz phrase) could restore winter camping across the river in the old Longmire Campground, which they already have to partially plow to reach the sewage treatment plant.  Probably have to ban motor homes and trailers because of the sharp turn at the far side suspension bridge cable.  Another global warming option would be to move the Paradise gate a couple miles uphill and plow 'A' loop at Cougar Rock for winter vehicle camping.
