I think I could drive in 1977 but not legally. There is no reason for the streak to end due to the current weather pattern.  There is skiing to be had with less effort than in October. Heck if you have $30 you don't even have to hike for turns. Crystal is open.

1977 was a worse el-nino than 2005 and and I had some great skiing that year, in places that normally one could never reach mid-winter, since FS roads were drivable to much higher elevations.Â

Well, I started skiing in 1962...
I'm thinking that a really good snow storm is going to hit the cascades starting Thursday and it will be great skiing this weekend -- but Tuesday morning it will be raining again -- matching my travel plans to see family in NYC.

I predict a torrential down pour then a trace to 1 inch for hood. Followed by cold and dry until February. Seems to be the staus quo around here as of the last 5 years. I need cheaper less fickle hobbies.
2011 all the resorts were open before Thanksgiving. The average is Dec 10 for Snoqualmie Pass and even if it opens around Christmas it won't be that much off pace. No need to panic yet, it just takes one good weekend storm to get things rolling.
