Park Closed Due to Flooding

The Nisqually Entrance in the southwest corner of the park is closed due to flooding of the road by Kautz Creek between the entrance and Longmire. All park employees and visitors are being evacuated. All roads are closed.
Check MountRainierNPS on Twitter for current status updates.
If you are scheduled to stay in the National Park Inn in Longmire, check with Mount Rainier Guest Services about the status of your reservation. All guests currently staying in the Inn are also being evacuated.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Nisqually River.

Predicted by Dave Uberuaga (Park Superintendent when Kautz Creek flooding closed the park) himself, in public, after he had made the decision not to put Kautz Creek back in its bank and to order million-dollar culverts (and close the park for nearly a year). He said he made a mistake and the culverts wouldn't prevent future channel migration, flooding, and park closure.
