Overnight Parking at Chinook was created by blackdog102395
In looking for a quick overnighter in the BC, I've been thinking about Dewey Lake and skiing around Seymour.  I emailed the park service to ask about overnight parking at Chinook and got this response:

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in visiting Mount Rainier National Park. There is no overnight parking or camping within the park unless you are at a car campground (Ohanapecosh, Cougar Rock, White River, or Mowich). For folks backpacking, you can stop at a ranger station inside the park and get a free wilderness permit. The ranger issuing the permit will set you up with specific campsites and the location where you will park your car(s). If you are camping along the PCT (or another trail outside the park), we can still write you a wilderness permit that will cover your car being parked inside the national park.
If you want to park just outside the park, at the trailhead and parking lot run by the Forest Service. Then you don't need a wilderness permit from the National Park Service.

This response doesn't clarify anything for me.  Anybody have any insight as to overnight parking in the Chinook Pass area?

The parking area and bathrooms at Tipsoo just west (actually physically south) of Chinook are in the Mt Rainier National Park. So the NPS rules apply.
The parking area and bathrooms just east of Chinook (physically north) are in the National Forest so as far as I know the NPS has no jurisdiction of that parking area.

That is where I would park if I were going to leave my car overnight.

Per chance others more knowledgeable on the FS rules can shed more light on the topic.

the parking lot mentioned by Ron is appropriate. it lies within the FS and not the Park. I use that for overnights in the area.
