The "tree riddle" @ Green Valley chair - answer?

Earlier this month, the liftie at the Green Valley chair had written up a tricky riddle on the message board at the bottom. Still nagging at me that I haven't figured out the answer. Could not find the answer on the Interwebz either, which was unexpected. I may not have the exact wording, but was something like this:

I am a tree you see
My top touches the ground
Though I am no weeping willow
And my head rests on an earthly pillow
[hr]
(or possibly 'earthen pillow')

Anyone know the answer to this one, or hear it from the dude or others while loading @ GV?

Liftie also verbally gave this other riddle, which I did figure out:

It is greater than God
It is more evil than the devil
The poor have it
The rich want it
But if you eat it you will die
[hr]

The answer for the second one is "nothing"

Is it a "Fallen" tree?

Tree felled with bolt cutters?

Family tree?
