Skin Glue coming off on ski base was created by Edgesport
My skins have started leaving glue on the bottoms of my skis. I thought it must have something to do with my wax so I scrapped the old wax, cleaned the bases, and gave the skis a new wax but nothing changed and I am still getting patches of skin glue on the tips, and tails of my skis. I have LaSportiva HiGlide Hi5 skins. They are made by Pomoca.
Anyone else having or had the same issue with skins? What do I do to fix this?
Thanks,

I've had that happen before with other brands of skins. I've heard that water can somehow can get worked into the glue mixture and foul up the glue chemistry....either from too many wet snow tours saturating your skins or putting away your skins while they're wet.
I don't know how much truth there is to all of that, but I've managed to salvage my glue without doing a full remove/reglue by recooking the glue using an iron and paper strips. These links do a much better job describing the process

I've also stopped having this problem since I began storing my skins in between tours attached to those mesh storage cheat sheets instead of just folding them up glue to glue for long term storage.
PS- do the ironing outside, and wear a respirator, it is nasty work.

Ever notice bread left in a freezer dries out?
They won't be like new, but I've found letting them dry, then storing in a freezer with a defroster (any modern freezer) between uses and long term works fairly well to reverse/prevent the problem.
The defroster slowly draws the moisture out, and best of all, I don't have to do a damn thing!

After a tour, even when the skins feel pretty dry, I always hang them from a rack vertically and let them fully dry out for a day or so. Then I store them on the "skin saver" sheets. As others mentioned, it doesn't take much water (can even be un-noticeable) to screw up the glue.

I got some new BD skins, 2 yrs ago and they work much better than the old ones. The new skins work better with the moisture also.
