Great event this past weekend for the first stop on the Junior Freeride Tour. Held on the Headwall at Crested Butte, the field of competitors was quite strong representing just about all the major ski areas (CB, Vail, Squaw, Alta and of course Alpental).
First off need to say how cool Crested Butte was. First time there and was surprised at the lack of crowds on what should have been a very busy weekend, and after they had received 4 feet of new snow. Event was well run as always by the JFT crew, and the CB staff (Patrol et al) were great.
As noted, a very strong field. The Headwall had 3 basic lines to come down and it was fun exploring the options. We immediately had two line choices and debated on which to chose, ultimately choosing one that had some traversing but was overall more aesthetic. That is our (and really Graham's) style, strong and smooth with style.
It also was a 9 out of 10 line and our goal was to post another good finish versus risk taking a fall. And it worked as Graham finished 5th overall, and just 2 points out of 2nd place.

Of course there needs to be a shot. Here is the POV of G jumping off the Block. And I got some good video (maybe my best yet) and will have a short movie in a few days.

Well, sorry for the delay with this video. Was on the road this week in Vegas/LA, caught a wicked cold and then of course needed to ski all weekend (which made me worse.....lol).
Enjoy what I think is my best video to date. Peace, Griff.
