Looking for advice and tips for Winter Park CO was created by OregonDead
I'm traveling to visit my in-laws in Colorado and they are treating us to lift tickets at Winter Park February 6-7. This is an unfamiliar area for me. My in-laws don't ski so my wife and I looking for any advice or tips from anyone familiar to Winter Park. Does anyone have tips for navigating the resort or good safe places for breaks? Are there any trails or glades that we need to check out? Any tips or stories about Winter Park will be appreciated. Thank you!

There is good touring around Berthoud Pass. The area is well known for its avi potential but there are good routes that can avoid most hazards. Adjust your climometer to the local snowpack.

I'm going to be in Eldorado Springs Canyon/ Boulder for most of the week and will just be at Winter Park for the 2 days that I have the lift tickets. Berthoud Pass will have to wait for another trip. Looking at the forecast I'm starting to wonder if I might be able to get some xc turns in around Eldo or Boulder. Don't think I'm going to bother bringing anything but my alpine gear but I bet I could rent some classic skis for cheap near the university. Funny the snow starts falling here in the PNW as soon as I start packing for a trip.

Colorado should be fun but I think I might still be missing the Cascades. I'm in the middle of a Mt. Hood streak right now and this will be my longest break from Hood since I started this streak on Oct. 11th. I'm very grateful I married someone from snow country as it will make visiting the in-laws a lot more fun.
