Lost the lower portion of my Expedition Ski Pole on the way down from Muir yesterday (1/26). I believe it was lost in the last 1000 ft.

On the same trip I found a pair of black gloves on the way up

I saw the lower section of a ski pole on the top of pan face (the steeper slope on climbers left, with a few exposed rocks). I left it in hopes that the owner might have lost it on the way up.

Is that a Black Diamond Expedition Ski Pole? If so, you're in luck (relatively speaking), because thankfully BD offers replacement parts at a very reasonable price. The lower shafts are only about $10, plus a few bucks for a new basket and for shipping. Sometimes they'll even ship for free if you call them and tell your tale of woe, you might even get them to send you a new lower shaft for free if you claim a warranty issue (the Flicklock came loose, right?).

If you need it immediately, Marmot Mountain Works in Bellevue often has spare lower shafts in stock, it may be worth calling them or a few other local stores to see if they have them (Second Ascent, Pro Ski North Bend might be most likely).

Be prepared to purchase a new lower shaft. I experienced a similar incident earlier this month on Smith Brooks road and contacted BD. I explained the flip lock on the middle shaft unlocks easily and caused the lower shaft to separate during my decent. Long story short, they didn't offer a free replacement and suggested purchasing a replacement. Perhaps, you will have better luck persuading them.

BD is out of stock of 140 lowers but I'll give Marmot Mountain Works a call.
