Last I checked Snowboarders are not a protected group.

Let's see, according to the Federal Government:
Race: check
Color: check
Religion: check
Age: check
Sex: check
National origin: check
Disability: check
Snowboarder: uhm...nope, not protected (unless you consider it a disability ;D.)

I am no lawyer so I could be way off: check

Snowboarding is just another type of skiing. One ski is still a ski and two skis is a pair of boards. There have been lots of different types of skis and techniques in the past 6000 years or so but as far as I'm concerned it is all just skiing.

Used to have some bias myself after watching a board guy take a blind jump at Blackcomb and on landing, bobbbled a bit & when he couldn't avoid a 5, maybe 6 year old girl on a green run, put a shoulder down, took her out hard & just kept going. After following him for a good mile, he stopped with his pals, 4 of them & when I confronted him, his buddies started circling me and spewed profanities. I dismounted my ski's, lifted a boot & asked "who's first" The Ski Patrol know of this incident as does Blackcomb Management. But I realize this could have been a punk skier just as easily. I think a few people have perhaps created a stigma and it's an unfortunate one. Some lesser developed board riders are known to not understand their blind-side and because there are many, many skiers at resorts, collisions and near misses have helped stereo-type, as well. Fact: there are a whole lot of good, considerate, riders who stand their place with anyone on 2 sticks. When mountain policy decides, based on your tool of choice, whether they will "allow" you to recreate, perhaps their "public use permit" calls into question?
