Where do people winter car camp in the Mazama/Winthrop area?

I have a little pop-up camper on my truck for this purpose but (of course) the FS campgrounds are closed in winter; as is the area's state park and the KOA in Winthrop.

Do people just park at the end of the road and camp to do a little backcountry access in this area?

Thanks for any info.

You can park overnight at the sno-park. Sledders do it all the time.

If you want more amenities than sno-park camping, the Pine Near RV park in Winthrop is open year round. The new owners are good folks. They also own the laundromat in Twisp and the installed a really sweet coin-op steam shower there. Very nice after a day out. www.pinenearpark.com/
