Beta for Stevens Pass Area? was created by Ted
Anyone been out towards Stevens or for that matter Snoqualmie in the last couple days? Trying to put together a trip for Saturday but not sure where there's decent snow cover. As an aside, how does touring in the pre- or post- season work at the resorts like Stevens or Alpental? Is it cool to just roll up and ski or is it considered private property or anything?

Thanks,
Ted

When Alpental begins operations, Gib usually posts an announcement that they've begun operations and are closed to unauthorized uphill travel for the season. Until then, it's generally fair game. Bring common sense. (Alpy's also pretty different; mind talus and boulders in surprising spots).

People seem to tour at Stevens until they open. I've never seen an official announcement from them at the beginning of their operations, but I imagine things are similar.

Both ski areas lease public land, but once they're operating, the rules change, as per the lease.

Snoqualmie webcams looked far too thin for anything near pass level. Didn't watch the Stevens webcam, but it'll be informative when it gets light again.

Nice, thanks for the info Charlie. Stevens cams look pretty good to me, I think I'll head out that way tomorrow!

Please report back - it looks great to me too.

I was thinking I may try to make it on Sunday. Specifically: skin up the mellow Promenade to Tye, take up Skid and then along the ridge to drop in Double Diamond.

Cheers
