It's got to be FUN!

Don't care if snow is *shitty* - I'll still be riding if I'm having fun, and won't if it doesn't feel as much fun, or if I decide I'll have more fun on my bike.

Gotta say, though, there's great snow around here well past July :)

Last summer I gave up after 3 or so years and was happy I did. First turns were in December and it felt amazing to ski car-to-car on the first day.

On the other hand I've been seeing these summer/fall TR's from Mike Rolfs and feeling guilty. Never met the guy but I'm pretty sure he's having more fun than anyone on this forum.

So stoked on winter right now.

Amen to that!

If not for the slight sunburn remaining I'd be wondering if it was a dream.  I've been up to Palmer 3 weeks in a row.  This past Saturday was the sweetest sugary snow.

No kidding -  glad to hear someone else thought it was that good - I wasn't sure if I was just delusional!

Good point, but I think you guys up in Washington have us beat on that end - it usually gets pretty thin down here by late summer, outside of maybe a couple options on Mt. Hood...

Mike Cohen and I started our "streak" before we moved out here - in November 1998 back home in VT. Happily made it more than 10 years. However, that required getting a day in each month, including through two of Mike's bad ankle sprains and two of my knee operations. The second one for me was on Sept 12 and Sept 30 had us staring down a steep, upside-down frozen hubcap remnant snow patch roll-over on Table Mtn. at dusk. We decided that next summer would be the end. It was just like Scotsman said. I have so much respect for those that keep it rolling and it was great fun for us - but I think I enjoy skiing even more now that there's no self imposed mandate to go whether or not it's going to be fun. "Cause it sure is fun when it's fun. TNNAY til ya die.

i bought a boat a few summers ago and that was the end of searching for summer patches.
waterskiing has been a nice substitute to suncup snow sliding.
