also did coffeebrewsters yesterday. croissant with bacon, egg, cheese. and house coffee. Bacon could use to be a bit more crispy but it was all well put together, no terrible crumble egg or drip cheese and fall apart like croissant sammiches are wont to do. That was my favorite part.

house blend was good too.
thanks for OP for asking this question and the good replies, nice to change up the routine.

wish the afternoon cloud would have cleared off hood--though looked like nice tracks up higher before it socked in.

One place I'll suggest is the Tollgate Inn and Bakery. Its the very first of the hokey looking 'old west' buildings when you enter sandy driving East, on your right, about when you see the first 25mph sign. I wrote them off for years on account of the sister's oregon styling and assuming it was just a tourist craphole. however I was very wrong. There is touron stuff in there but the food/pastries/etc are top notch.

They have a ton of home-made pastries some of which are gargantuan in size. But they also have to-go sandwiches for a good price ($6), you fill out a little piece of paper select what you want (bread type, cheese, meat, toppings) think you can get a half-size as well.  But don't ever ask for double/two meats even if you offer to pay, I though they'd skimp me a bit on both and end up with a sandwich of normal size but with two meats. wrong. it was a good 5inches high.

Coffee brewsters was pretty good. We tried the bisket sandwich with bacon. My wife wasn't even hungry when we took our lunch break, pretty good size sandwich . The skiing on Palmer yesterday was super fun. This was my first day since May 25. Lots of new terrain exposed.
@Christopher , where are the good b&g, is that the place by mt high grocery?

i think its called mt. hood foods? (which is also under new owners who are very nice)

its the last stop in rhododendron before you drive up towards government camp. i
just a little food cart, quick and easy.

Thanks. That is the place I was thinking of. Mt High grocery is the little store in Detroit OR, I got the names confused. I've been curious but did not want to make a left hand turn across the highway. Perhaps I'll give them a try before there is snow or ice on the road. It looks like another great forecast for turns on Palmer this weekend.

As was mentioned above, Tollgate is great for a sit down breakfast.
