Are the features in the Performance TF worth the extra cost?

The shells weigh within 10 grams of each other/size; I like the TF-X liner (a strobel liner) better than a pure thermo-moldable liner (personal choice) but the TF-X liner is heavier but is supposed to last longer; there are some problems with the rivet wearing the hole in the Performance cuff, but not on the Mountain; the cuff on the the Performance is significantly stiffer than on the Mountain if that is important to you; however, I never tighten my cuff that much, in fact I removed the power strap completely. The designers of the boots say the Mountain is aimed at touring, the performance at rigorous descents. I just bought the 1st one available (I was on lists for both models when they came out). The Performance bring you more status and admiring glances than the Mountain amongst those in the know ;D and that alone is worth the extra money?

Check out this post on WildSnow

(Someone is going to ask how much different these are than the non-carbon cuff “Mountain” model. My take is that the TLT5 Mountain is still a viable alternative, but the stiff and lightweight carbon cuff is what makes the TLT5 Performance sing instead of hum. )

at $500- cost isn't the issue.

Re cuff rivet, Dynafit/Salewa in Boulder can repress it for free each summer -- you pay shipping there, they cover shipping back. And for 2012-13 the cuff rivet design was modified. Also for 2012-13, the spoiler was modified (and is available as a retrofit part on older boots) to allow for two different forward lean positions. Unfortunately, the sku did not change, so hard to tell from etailers which model you're getting.
