OMG, the traffic!  So much for Baker as the alternative for MRNP road shenanigans.  Somebody want to detail the best work-around given the likely choke points?  Will be interesting to see how fast a rebuild gets done.

WSDOT has directions on their site and NPR KUOW evidently has posted directions.

Plan on passing through the Skagit between 2 am and 3 am and the delay should be minimal. You know you want an alpine start.

Took the most "direct" of the detour routes available this evening while heading north (had to see it for myself) - only set me back 30 minutes and I hit it right at the peak of rush hour.

Would recommend detouring via SR 9 if your destination is east of the interstate (e.g. N. Cascades, Baker, etc.), otherwise, swinging-out westward along the longer of the two detours is the best option (ironically, along Best Road).

In other news, zero wait at the Canadian border. More agents working than cars in line :D

Safe travels this holiday weekend, everyone!
